Who are we?

Who are we? We are fellow explorers who seek how deep the rabbit hole goes. The quest for the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, Universe and Everything does get very interesting in the Book that has stood the…

Fate of Adam & the Bad Guys

Where are the dead at present? Is there any hope for them? There is a hell – SHEOL/HADES to which ALL our souls were condemned when Adam fell. That hell is the GRAVE. But there is hope! God promised to RANSOM us from the power of the grave [SHEOL] (Hosea 13:14). He sent Jesus (John 3:16) to die in place of Adam. Jesus paid Adam’s RANSOM and paved the way for the resurrection of all of Adam (Rom 5:12,18). Jesus is the RANSOM for ALL (1Tim 2:6). As in Adam ALL die, so in Christ ALL will be made alive (1Cor 15:22).

A Change of Age

What are the events the Bible describes as related to the first resurrection? Just as there are two resurrections, so also there are two judgments. And so how is the Bema Seat Judgment different from the White Throne Judgment? What is to happen to Satan at the beginning of the Next Age? Why does the Bible say those who wake up in the second resurrection find themselves in a "krisis"?

Repentance – A Change of Mind

Disregarding centuries of misuse of the English word, when we go to the original Greek, we see that repentance (Greek: metanoia) means 'a change of mind'. So what is it that we need to change our minds about? Why does the Bible say mankind is in an unjustified state? In Old Testament times, God gave Israel a set of rules called the Law Covenant. What was the deal there? How is that related to sin? And why did God provide the Law covenant (the Old Testament) if he knew there would be a New Testament?

Bible Study – Best Practices

Golden Rules

  1. Scripture interprets scripture.
  2. Any doctrine requires two witnesses, at the least.
  3. Seek scriptural harmony. It's real.
  4. Never go beyond what's written.

Silver Rules

  1. Understand biblical words: Study Vine’s/Strong’s for interlinear translations, etymologies, and apply exegesis. In most cases, a word is best defined by Scripture itself. Refer Golden Rule #1.
  2. Support any given doctrine with more than one Scripture. Refer Golden Rule #2.
  3. Refer to multiple translations: Since no Translation is perfect, compare the text using multiple types of translations to arrive at the correct understanding of a verse that harmonizes with the rest of the Bible. Refer Golden Rule #3. Translation types:
    • Functional Equivalence – E.g. NIV.
    • Formal Equivalence – E.g. NASB.
    • Free Translation – E.g. The Message.
  4. Verify earliest available manuscripts to resolve supposedly contradictory verses. Refer Golden Rule #3.
  5. Avoid reading literal meanings into parables, allegories, and symbolic statements. If you treat a section as symbolic, be consistent and see everything there as symbolic. Avoid considering half of the things there as symbolic and half literal. Vice versa.
  6. Interpret parables, allegories or symbolic statements not by personal theories, but by using other Scriptures. Refer Golden Rule #1.
  7. On any given topic, direct statements from Scriptures take predominance over any interpretative Scriptures. Refer Golden Rule #4.
  8. Read and understand based on context: A text must be understood based on its micro and macro context.
  9. Treat an epistle as a letter or an email, to be read in one sitting.
  10. Bear in mind the foundational doctrines of Christianity as listed down in Hebrews 6:1-2 “The elementary teaching about the Christ... foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.”

Who’s the God of All of Us?

Less than a third of mankind is classified Christian today. Islam is the fastest growing world religion. There are a billion Hindus who worship thousands of gods. Men follow a whole array of other religions as well. Atheist groups deny the existence of any God at all. So, who of all these is right? Since all the Gods men worship are defined by their own ‘sacred books’, let us apply certain tests to the Bible and the other religious books and see which ones hold up. The two main tests would be science and history.
